Laser printers
The laser printers began in 1971, and since then, it has been one of the most common electronic printers in the market. The printer was founded by Gary Starkweather at Xerox PARC. With a laser beam and selenium coated base, the printing technology of drum and charge is used in laser printers.
Solid ink printers
This type of printer is mainly designed to save your money and space, and the technology used in solid ink printers is called tinting. In this technology, the ink is directly poured into the drum, and if you want to get a good colour combination, you have to move the drum instead of the printer. In 2000, when Xerox acquired Tektronix, it launched solid ink printers in the market.
Thermal printers
The thermal printer was invented by Jack Kilby, and they are also known as thermal transfer printer, thermal wax transfer impression or electrothermal printer. This type of printer uses heated pins to render the picture on the printing paper. Since these printers are low cost and do not uses ink as other printing presses do, thermal printers are extensively used in retail, fax, education, transportation, finance and computing machines.
Plotter
The plotter was developed by Remington Rand in the year 1953. The plotter is a hardware or a printer that is used to print vector graphics and for drawing continuous lines using a marker, pen or pencil.
3D printers
Developed by Chuck Hull in 1984, 3D printers are one of the best improvements made in the history of printers. The printer uses materials like plastics, metal alloys, foods and polymers and is used for many applications, including dentistry, aerospace engineering, biotechnology, archaeology and IT. You can even use a 3D printer to rebuild ancient archaeological artifacts that have been destroyed over time.
LED printers
Using a fuser system, drum and inks, LED printers prints black and white documents and works mostly like a laser printer. These printers were invented by manufacturer OKI in the year 1989. The main difference between LED printers and laser printers is that while the latter uses a laser and mirror to create a static charge for the printer, the former uses an ink tray of LEDs.
Dot matrix printers
The first dot matrix printer was created
by Centronics in the year 1957. The printer works on the technology of hitting
the ink band using print heads to form text and images by creating thousands of
