Every laser printer has a toner cartridge which is the main component responsible for printing your images or documents. Understanding the toner cartridge 

Most of the laser toner cartridges have a big hollow space called a hooper that contains a very dry and fine powder known as the toner. The role of the hooper is to transfer toner powder to other components and fuse the toner powder into the printing paper. There are many ways through which your laser printer will tell you that it has run out of toner powder. Some printers pass light to alert you about low toner, or some might just stop printing when the toner gets low.  

Get the toner powder 

The dry and fine toner powder used in toner cartridges is easily available both online and offline, which are used for refilling purposes. One way to refill your toner cartridges is to just remove gears on the end, pull out the plug and replace everything and resetting it again. Another way of refilling is to melt a hole in the top of the hopper and pour the new toner powder and simple tape over the hole.  

Make a hole in the hopper 

By using a toner refill kit tool, you can easily melt a hole in the top of the hopper without disassembling or reassembling gears. The refilling kit tool is like a soldering iron that heats the round tip causing the tip of the hopper to melt, thus creating a hole. You can’t drill a hole because then the plastic bits can go inside the hopper and damage your cartridge. Try to make the hole on the side and not in the middle, as then you will have to keep shaking the toner powder sideways to fill the hopper. 

Empty the hopper


After making a hole at the top of the hopper, don’t put the toner powder you just bought. Firstly, shake out all the toner powder inside your cartridge before putting the new one so as to ensure that the new one doesn’t get mixed up with the old one. Even if your printer says that it is running low on toner, it still has some toner powder left inside it. After doing that, pour the new toner powder carefully.
